The Kinship Navigation Program (KNP) was established to address and coordinate the needs of families who are raising relative children. Increasingly, grandparents, aunts, uncles, siblings and cousins are assuming the responsibility for the birth parent role, when that parent is unable or unwilling to raise their child in an appropriate manner. Support of the families includes coordinating linkages with needed services such as: educational, financial, legal, behavioral health, parenting skills and almost any other important service that enhances the stability of the child in relative care.
